Bonnie Wright - Ginny Weasley
It wasn't obvious from the beginning that Harry would end up with Ginny Weasley, but fans eventually accepted this couple, as it made sense in the end. Bonnie Wright portrayed the role of the only daughter in the Weasley household and was highly appreciated by audiences from all over the world. Not many people know, but she was only nine when her Harry Potter journey commenced!
Bonnie gained enough fame as Ginny and prospered to become a director and an activist later on. Now, she is busy directing music videos and is using her hard-earned skills to the best. Way to go!
Shefali Chowdhury - Parvati Patil
The other half of the Patil sisters, Parvati, was played by Shefali, a British actress of Bangladeshi descent. Both actresses formed a strong rapport on Harry Potter's sets, and their friendship is still going strong. We believe Sehfali and Afshan formed a bond because of belonging to similar ethnicity!
The young performer bagged the role in her last year at Waverley School, Birmingham. Apart from the film series, Chowdhury has done quite a few short films that include I Am The Doorway - a movie based on Stephen King's novel, Heist: Jane and Odilo Fabian.
Kelly Macdonald - Helena Ravenclaw
Grey Lady or better known as Helena Ravenclaw, was a witch who attended the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the Harry Potter series. This wonderful and unforgettable role was made even better by Kelly Macdonald and her unmatched knack for acting. She played the daughter of Rowena Ravenclaw, and not many people were happy after her role came to an end. However, it was just the beginning for Kelly in the entertainment industry.
We later saw Kelly in Brave and Black Mirror, and her performances made us fall in love with her again. Who would not be fans of someone so talented!
Scarlett Byrne – Pansy Parkinson
Scarlett Byrne is best known for her portrayal of Pansy Parkinson in the Harry Potter film series. Appearing first in the sixth installment, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince in 2009, Byrne nailed the character of the hard-faced Slytherin girl whose favorite hobby was to intimidate those different from her.
After reprising her role in the epic saga's last two installments, the English actress has since starred in Runaways and The Vampire Diaries. In an exciting twist of events, the model posed for Playboy and later married its heir apparent, Cooper Hefner, in 2019. Settling into domestic bliss, Byrne and her husband welcomed their first child just a year later.
Afshan Azad - Padma Patil
It seems like all the cast of the Harry Potter saga is one lucky bunch. Afshan, like many of her co-stars (cue: Oliver, James, Yanevski), gave the original audition casually. To quote the starlet in her words, she gave the audition "just for fun," and surprisingly for her, Afshan got cast as Padma Patil.
Azad is a British actress and model of Bangladeshi descent. Despite many ups and downs in life, the artist always emerged triumphant at the end of the day. However, professionally, Afshan has not been as active as her fans would have hoped.
Matthew Lewis – Neville Longbottom
Matthew Lewis played the ever-fumbling Neville Longbottom in the Harry Potter franchise since the beginning back in 2001. Fast-forwarding to today, the 32-year-old Lewis is busy collecting accolades and acclaim for his performance as a dashing suitor in the All Creatures Great and Small reboot. Matthew's transformation to a romantic lead is stunning, much like his remarkable metamorphosis as Longbottom in the span of the entire series.
Acting since age five, the British actor has consistently given noteworthy performances in television and films, such as Me Before You. We can hardly wait to see what's in store for the actor in the immediate future.
Emma Watson – Hermione Granger
Emma Watson is a gorgeous woman who stays astonishingly grounded for a celebrity. Principled, bright, and brilliant, much like her character Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter universe, the 31-year-old actress has been consistent in her approach to acting, activism, and her personal life.
Movies like Beauty And The Beast and Little Women prove how much the outspoken star has come into her post the Harry Potter series. Besides acting, Emma seems to enjoy spending quality time with her beau Leo Robinton away from the spotlight while we wait eagerly for news about her next project.
Jason Isaacs – Lucius Malfoy
Jason Isaacs' illustrious career spans over three decades, his most noteworthy role being Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter movies. Training to be an actor and appearing in stage plays and on television, Isaacs debuted as a doctor in the film The Tall Guy in 1989. Since then, the actor has been incredibly busy portraying diverse characters in movies such as Abduction, After the Fall, and Skyfire showcasing his range as a captivating performer.
After experiencing the full impact of him playing a vicious death eater, we know what Captain Hook of Peter Pan is capable of, and to date, Jason continues to impress us.
Daniel Radcliffe – Harry Potter
Daniel Radcliffe handled the pressure of playing the epic Harry Potter film franchise's titular character well for a young actor with only two previous credits to his name. During his stint as the boy wizard, the British actor gained international recognition and his net worth skyrocketed.
Radcliffe followed it up with roles in films like The Woman in Black and K*** Your Darlings. However, the Now You See Me 2 star sticks to taking on only one project a year and prefers to enjoy their time away from the spotlight. Besides acting, Daniel is fond of rap music and has confessed to being obsessive about memorizing complicated fast songs.
Harry Melling – Dudley Dursley
Harry Melling was 10 when he won Dudley Dursley's role in the Harry Potter film franchise, but today the 32-year-old actor looks nothing like Potter's obese muggle cousin. The young Melling lost quite a few pounds during the series and risked replacement by another suitable large actor; he pulled on a fat suit to reprise his role in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part One.
Two decades later, with three Netflix projects during the pandemic - The Old Guard, The Devil All the Time, and the latest blockbuster, The Queen's Gambit, the British actor seems to have made the streaming platform his new home, and we have no complaints!
Alfred Enoch – Dean Thomas
Best known for playing Wes Gibbins on the popular television drama series How to Get Away with M*****, Alfred Enoch is an English-Brazilian actor carving a permanent place in our hearts through his mischievous smile and impeccable acting. Enoch's initial claim to fame was when he played Dean Thomas in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and appeared in seven of the eight movies in the series.
Besides films, Alfred appeared in several plays, including Antigone and Happy New Year throughout London. Considering his standout performance as Lord Harry Wotton in the theatrical production, The Picture of Dorian Gray, this star indeed belongs in the spotlight.
Tom Felton – Draco Malfoy
Tom Felton won international recognition playing Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter movies in the 2000s. Unlike the uptight and wicked Slytherin, Felton is a chilled-out guy and is a regular sight hanging out with his former co-stars. In an interview, the actor confessed to originally auditioning for Harry Potter and Ron Weasley's parts before being cast as Draco.
Over the years, our favorite villain has tried his hand at music too. You can find his music videos online under Feltbeats, and nine of Tom's songs have been rerecorded and are available on iTunes. Felton continues to attract good projects, and we hope to see him on-screen again soon.
Hugh Mitchell – Colin Creevey
Hugh Mitchell is the English actor who played Colin Creevey in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. In the movie, Creevey is a significant fan of the boy wizard who roams around campus with a camera and constantly follows Harry begging for a photograph together. Later, the mousy-haired muggle-born is petrified by the Basilisk when seeing it through the camera lens.
Based on his appearance in the popular adaptation, Mitchell received several acting offers in television and films. Hugh even appeared as young Silas in The Da Vinci Code and numerous other diverse roles in projects like Tom Brown's Schooldays, Tormented and Wondrous Oblivion.
Robert Pattinson - Cedric Diggory
Robert Pattinson pursued his love for acting in a theatre club at the very young age of 15. Although some of Pattinson's roles did not do a great deal towards advancing his career, the Brit performer soon redeemed himself by offering a diverse and multi-talented acting portfolio in films like The Lighthouse and Remember Me.
If you're a big Harry Potter films fan, then you most definitely remember the exceptionally handsome Hufflepuff, Cedric Diggory. Robert landed the role out of thousands of hopefuls, and although he may not have had a lot of screen-time, the charismatic actor nailed the character perfectly.
Rupert Grint - Ron Weasley
Rupert Grint is known worldwide thanks to his significant contribution to the Harry Potter films' dynamic trio. His goofiness and intellect assisted Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) throughout the story. You'd be lying if you'd tell us that you didn't fall in love with Ron Weasley in the very first movie.
The English actor has been featured in various other shows and films, building upon his already successful acting career to influence television with his glamorous presence further. You might find him on Apple TV+ these days, playing as Julian Pearce on the critically acclaimed Servant.
Michael Gambon - Albus Dumbledore
Kids these days wish they had Sir Michael Gambon as their school principal. The beloved actor presented a marvelous and unforgettable performance for Albus Dumbledore, portraying a mysterious and powerful wizard. You might not recognize him without the beard, but you can find the Irish-English actor in Fortitude, Cordelia, and The King's Speech, absolutely rocking the clean look.
Throughout his successful acting journey, Gambon earned many rewards, including a knighthood from Her Majesty in 1998 for contributions to drama. Recently, however, Sir Michael's age-induced memory loss prevents him from continuing with theatrical roles; he does, fortunately, the veteran performer continues to act on screen.
Fiona Shaw - Petunia Dursley
You know an actor's good when they're able to make you hate their character for what they do. That's precisely what Fiona Shaw managed to establish with Petunia Dursley's performance, as Harry's restrictive aunt secretly wishing she wasn't a muggle. Before landing her role in Harry Potter, the revered actress worked in theatre with many diverse parts, a testimony to her versatility as an artist.
Shaw's recent success in BBC America's K***ing Eve earned her the BAFTA award for the Best Actress in a Supporting Role. It looks like Fiona's made a pretty charmed life for herself.
Warwick Davis - Professor Flitwick
Shorter actors gained proper representation in Hollywood only recently. Speaking of which, Warwick Davis' memorable role as Professor Flitwick in the Harry Potter franchise was a delight to see in the cinema. The English actor may have initially performed as an Ewok in Star Wars, but his brimming talent soon took him to new heights with more prominent roles.
Who better than the esteemed thespian with a diverse roster of iconic roles in blockbuster franchises to better represent people on the shorter side of the height scale? That's right; Davis is also a director and producer running an agency ensuring anyone below five feet gets the representation they deserve.
Gary Oldman - Sirius Black
We've all known Gary Oldman to go the extra mile for whatever character he chooses to play. The British actor's transformations into different personalities are seamless, and the overall change of appearance to build on his roles is astounding. Other than James Gordon in The Dark Knight, Gary has also worked to bring Harry's beloved Godfather to the big screen; Sirius Black.
Throughout his career, the filmmaker and performer received outstanding awards, eventually winning him an Oscar and set the artist's long legacy in stone. It's inspiring to see established actors like Oldman going the extra mile to bring life to every role for their fans.
Domhnall Gleeson - Bill Weasley
Nobody was expecting Ron Weasley, of all people, to have such a rockstar brother. So, we were as surprised as you were when we saw Domhnall Gleeson for the first time as Bill Weasley. The Irish actor quickly climbed the ladder and started to get recognized globally for his role as the Weasley family's older and arguably coolest sibling.
Other than acting, the oldest of the Gleeson family is also a short film director and screenwriter. His work on-screen and off-screen has earned him several awards throughout the years and various significant roles that have definitely put Domhnall in some competition with his father, the iconic Brendon Gleeson.
David Tennant - Barty Crouch Jr.
While many of the Harry Potter films' actors might have found themselves primarily recognized for their roles specifically within J.K. Rowling's universe, such is not the case with David Tennant. Although the Scottish actor did an excellent job of playing Barty Crouch Jr., you probably know the Scottish actor for his ground-breaking performance in Jessica Jones and let's not forget Doctor Who.
David loved acting. Despite his parents suggesting that he go for a more secure career path, Tennant used his determination to secure his spot in Hollywood and grace the silver age of Hollywood with some of the best characters we have seen.
Robbie Coltrane - Rubeus Hagrid
Hagrid aptly filled Harry's troubled past and void for a family, a kind half-giant who lives a life of exile for a crime he never committed, played by Robbie Coltrane. The Scottish actor and writer knew fame before his role in Rowling's universe, having already worked in National Treasure and James Bond.
You'll find that our loveable giant currently lives his life with two children and continuing his career as an actor with his most recent work in Urban Myths as Orson Welles. Fans will never forget his heart-warming portrayal of the innocent, welcoming, and caring Hagrid that'll live forever in our hearts.
Oliver Phelps - George Weasley
Oliver and his brother James skipped their exam to try their hands at acting and went for the Harry Potter auditions. The rest, as they say, is history. They got cast as the snarky Weasley twins who resemble their personality off the camera too. The siblings played their parts for all eight films and went on to do numerous other projects after this.
Oliver had quite a few films under his belt, like the short movie Ears and the television movie Danny and the Human Zoo. Apart from the entertainment industry, the young star stays actively involved with charity initiatives like the Teenage Cancer Trust.
Stanislav Yanevski - Victor Krum
Stanislav Yanevski is the Bulgarian actor who played a National-level Quidditch player's role and everyone's favorite Ronald Weasley's romantic rival. The performer has lived in Israel and also in England, which is evident from his accent.
Stanislav had no intention of entering the showbiz, but he agreed to audition after being spotted by the casting director Fiona Weir. Post-Harry Potter, this hunk of a man didn't change much about his appearance, playing similar roles like that of a soldier, and expanded his genre with movies like Hostel II and Cloaking.
Kenneth Branagh - Gilderoy Lockhart
Kenneth Branagh played the role of a delusional self-obsessed and possibly the most annoying professor at Hogwarts. But in real life, the actor is quite the opposite; he is a charming and revered actor who has several prestigious award nominations to his name and won three BAFTA and two Emmy's.
It would take a while to list all of Kenneth's accolades, so it would suffice to mention that the multi-talented creative has been named one of the most influential people in the UK. Branagh has even been honored with a knighthood from Her Majesty for his contribution to contemporary British culture.
David Thewlis - Remus Lupin
Remus Lupin became our favorite character the moment he saved Harry from the ghastly dementors! And his dark side appears to have no effect on the fans; they love him nonetheless! But interestingly, the widely-adored actor, David Thewlis, originally auditioned for the role of vexing Peter Pettigrew but scored Lupin's, thankfully!
Since his Harry Potter franchise days, the actor has appeared in various prominent movies, including the superhit Wonder Woman and Seven Years in Tibet. The artist's versatility is enough to win him popular roles and some prestigious awards along the way.
Katie Leung - Cho Chang
Cho Chang-won our hearts, and Harry's, as soon as we, and him, laid eyes upon her. Who wouldn't be captivated by her innocent yet flirty smile? Katie Leung indeed became Miss. Popular after her prominent contribution in The Order of the Phoenix. This movie alone is the highlight of her career.
That doesn't mean she didn't have several other projects under her belt. The actress has worked on stage and television extensively. Interestingly, acting is not the only feather in her cap. Katie is also an adept photographer and an artist, having graduated from the University of the Arts London.
Timothy Spall - Peter Pettigrew
As much as we loved Remus Lupin, we detested Peter Pettigrew. The guy still makes us grit our teeth with sheer anger and annoyance. But this goes on to prove the excellence of Timothy Spall. He single-handedly made us despise the Animagus with all our hearts, but Spall, in reality, is nothing like the double-faced creature.
Timothy's versatility and adaptability granted him respect for films like Alice Through The Looking Glass and Chicken Run, which he enjoys to date. The actor has also won his fair share of awards, enough to make him a veteran of the industry!
Brendon Gleeson - Mad-eye Moody
Brendon Gleeson, portraying Alastor Moody, made us all fall in love with the actor. The artist successfully pulled off, playing the role of a helpful teacher to Harry, and pulled off many surprises as the series progressed, which kept fans on their toes!
Even though it seemed like he was the enemy in the fourth installment, Moody ended up being the victim. Playing polar opposite roles is never easy, and the actor portrayed the same flawlessly, without skipping a beat. Gleeson went on to have a stellar career with hits such as Into the Storm that won him the respect in the industry he enjoys today!
Emma Thompson - Sybill Trelawney
Who could ever forget the crazy eyes of Sybill Trelawny and equally wild predictions of hers? Well, except for her one prophecy that set the ball rolling for the entire film series of the Harry Potter franchise.
Yet this actress had a remarkable career after the conclusion of her role as well! Emma's vast award collection speaks for itself! Movies like The Tall Guy and Men in Black III were enough to prove that this multi-talented English rose is nothing short of a legend. The star is also a superb human, as she has done extensive work to protect human rights across the world!
Jim Broadbent - Horace Slughorn
Professor Horace Slughorn's role was played by the talented Jim Broadbent, who left all the viewers thoroughly impressed with his work as a friendly wizard. Horace joined the school as a potions master, and later it was revealed that he was the one who told a young Voldemort about the Horcruxes.
Apart from this unforgettable role, Broadbent is also well-known for his versatility and exceptional contributions to the entertainment industry. Game of Thrones, Brooklyn Paddington, and Iris are just some names in his diverse portfolio. His Academy Award, Golden Globe Award, and other accolades speak volumes for his talent!
Hero Fiennes Tiffin - Young Tom Riddle
The Harry Potter film series had some brilliant child actors who turned out to be famous stars in today's time. One of them is Hero Fiennes Tiffin, who played the role of Tom Riddle, the 11-year-old version of Lord Voldemort in the sixth installment of Harry Potter.
Tiffin prefers keeping his personal life just to himself and does not believe in promoting his work. Now that is something never seen before when it comes to celebrities. The young man has some exciting movies lined up, and we cannot wait to watch them!
Julie Walters - Molly Weasley
After getting married to Arthur Weasley, Molly is the matriarch of the Weasley clan in Harry Potter. She is a pure-blood witch, and her character is known to be a powerful one, but more than that, she is a fiercely protective mother.
Julie Walters was the one who played Molly's role, and she did a great job with it! We have seen her play roles in some other blockbuster movies like Paddington 2 and Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again as well. Lesser known fact, Julie is also an author apart from being an exceptional actress.
Rhys Ifans - Xenophilius Lovegood
Rhys Ifans was pretty late to the Harry Potter party, as he was introduced in the seventh movie, The Deathly Hallows Part 1 as Xenophilius Lovegood. Even though he didn't get a chance to participate in the first six movies, Ifans played a vital role and became a notable character - he teaches Harry about the symbol the seventh movie was named after.
The multitalented actor left the directors in the industry so impressed that he bagged crucial roles back-to-back. We saw Ifans rock his role in The Amazing Spider-Man and The Five Year Engagement, and lucky for us, he has many more upcoming movies that we are eager to watch!
Ian Hart - Quirinus Quirrell
The first-ever villain in Harry Potter films was the man who was all prepared to go against the magical world. He was the one and only Quirinus Quirrell played by the multitalented Ian Hart. However, his character failed as the bad guy, but the actor sure got his acting career a kickstart.
Ian was seen in several TV shows after his gig as Quirrell, like The Terror and The Bridge. It is not very often that a villain of a movie or a TV show is seen in a positive light, but Ian as an actor, definitely was, and we love this exception.
Natalia Tena - Nymphadora Tonks
Did you know it was Natalia Tena who played the role of Nymphadora Tonks in Harry Potter? Viewers call her character one of the coolest, and we feel it was all thanks to Natalia's effortless acting. Of course, her short and pink-colored hair added more to the coolness quotient!
Natalia also bagged the role of Osha in the HBO series Game of Thrones and received the same kind of appreciation as she did as Tonks. Apart from the acting skills, she is a fantastic musician as well. No wonder Natalia has made quite a name in the showbiz!
Josh Herdman - Gregory Goyle
One of the Slytherin students, Gregory Goyle, is a pure-blood wizard. He is a companion of Draco Malfoy at Hogwarts in the same year. Everyone was in awe of how effortlessly he played the role of the son of a Death Eater.
Guess who played the role of Goyle? It was the absolutely talented Josh Herdman, who is not just an actor but also a skilled martial artist. It seems that the celebrity likes to keep away from the paps because it is not very often that we get to spot the man. Let us hope we see more of Herdman on our screens from now onwards!
Bill Nighy - Rufus Scrimgeour
Bill Nighy was a big name already owing to the role in the series The Men’s Room. It was no surprise for the audiences to see him ace his performance as Rufus Scrimgeour in The Deathly Hallows: Part 1. We saw the actor for a brief period, but he certainly knew how to capture everyone's attention with an unmatched onscreen presence.
Mr. Bill has featured in Love Actually and Underworld, and gave us some memorable characters. It is safe to say that his time in the industry has been fruitful from the very beginning.
Evanna Lynch - Luna Lovegood
Unlike many other actors in the Harry Potter franchise cast, Evanna Lynch had no prior experience in professional acting aside from school plays. When they saw the Irish actress's work bring Luna Lovegood to life, they knew that she was perfect for the role. Fans loved the British witch's presence in the movies and Evanna's sincere heart-warming innocence.
It didn't take long for Hollywood to note Lynch's artistic talent in the Harry Potter movies, and she soon found work in Madness in the Method, My Name is Emily, and Danny.
