Bring Your Own Cup To 7/11, They Said…
When the marketing team at 7/11 came up with their Bring Your Own Cup promo for National Slurpee Day, they probably didn't anticipate people going all out. Take this man, for example. Looking like he's getting a year's supply of Slurpee, he brought in an aquarium and seemed determined to fill it to the brim.
He didn't think things as thoroughly as he should have, though. It looked like his glass container was about to break at any moment with all the weight that was being put in it. Here's to hoping he and his aquarium made it out of there unscathed!
Ramp Or Rollercoaster Ride?
Getting around in a wheelchair is no joke, but it definitely gets way harder (maybe even impossible) when one is faced with ramps like this one. With its steep slope and lack of railings, it's looking more like a rollercoaster ride than a ramp.
Safe to say, this doesn't meet the guidelines set by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) to make public areas accessible to everyone. The maximum recommended slope of ramps is 1:20, according to the design manual published on the United Nations website. The one in this picture definitely exceeds that!
When Life Gives You (Water)Lemons…
Watermelons and lemons, though they sound somewhat similar, are drastically different fruits in terms of looks. So, we're not sure how the person who created this fruit display mistook one for the other. When life gives you lemons…sell them as watermelons, we guess.
From a culinary point of view, though, the watermelon and lemon pairing is a good one. The magazine La Cucina Italiana even touted the duo as the perfect combo for summer drinks. Aside from their refreshing taste, the fruits are also filled with vitamins, so buying either is a good idea for health-conscious people.
New iPad Feature Unlocked!
Believe it or not, human eyesight is pretty impressive when compared to that of other animals like flies and cats. But that doesn't mean that is infallible, as proven by this 13-day search for an iPad that was just right in front of this netizen's eyes.
Their iPad had a new camouflage feature that enabled it to "hide" itself atop their vehicle's leather seats undetected. They should probably take this as a sign to buy their device a different protective cover or may consider getting eyeglasses to bring their eyesight back to its normal 20/20 vision.
This Phrasing Is Just Bananas
Sometimes, it can be hard to find the right words in the English language for the things we want to say. And that's especially true for people whose first language is not English. That's probably what the grocery store clerk struggled with when they made this hilariously worded sign.
Instead of simply saying "per piece" or "each" or "by the piece," they typed in "bananas by the each" into the label maker and called it a day. On the bright side, the sign works just fine despite its awkward phrasing. We bet it even got a few laughs from passing shoppers!
An Alarming Mistake
If you have a smoke and fire alarm system installed in your home, then you'd also know that the detectors typically come with stickers that have the installation date on them. This serves as a reminder to the homeowner when they should expect the detector batteries to run out.
However, the person who installed the detector in this image clearly took things literally when they filled up the date sticker. Instead of writing down the day they set up the device, they wrote the specific place the detector was installed on instead. Oh well, at least they put it on the ceiling, which is the best place for smoke detectors.
A Magic Trick By A Magician Called The Freezer
Now, we don't need a science degree to realize that this "magic trick" is just how ice normally forms in the freezer. But apparently, this befuddled Twitter user thought that someone somehow found a way to cram a block of ice into this plastic container.
We don't really blame them for wondering though since the way water forms into ice is a somewhat magical natural phenomenon. According to Science Learning Hub, water molecules move freely in their liquid state. However, they start to move more slowly and stick together (forming ice) as the temperature goes down.
She Really "Kneeded" That Bread
We're still debating whether this one is genius or just plain rude. From what you can probably already tell from these photos, a lady at the grocery used these loaves of bread to protect her knees so she could take a better look at the other ones for sale on the lower shelves.
While it benefited her, she seemingly forgot to consider how the bread she kneaded with her knees ended up too deformed to be sold. We can't imagine the next buyer seeing on the floor and being enticed enough to put it in their shopping cart! So here's to hoping she ended up paying for those loaves, at least.
What On Earth Are Recycled Babies?
Seeing this store sign without any context as you're driving by, we bet you would be confused, too. What on earth are recycled babies? No need to worry though, no kids were recycled in this shop! That's because this is just one of those cases of unfortunate company name choices.
Recycled Baby was the brick-and-mortar store of an online selling business of the same name. It was run by mom-of-two from Pennsylvania Heather Willow, who is also a blogger. The store, which closed in 2020, used to sell secondhand clothing and toys for babies.
Man With Umbrella: 0, Rain: 1
In this battle between the rain and a man with an umbrella, it's pretty clear that the former is winning. For some reason, this man just refused to use his umbrella and chose to get wet instead. This choice makes some sense though, given the history of the invention.
In some ancient cultures, the umbrella or the parasol was primarily used as a sunshade and typically only by important persons. It retained the same utility when it became more of a fashion statement in the 18th and 19th centuries, according to Brittanica.
Caught In A Blatant Lie
Buying secondhand furniture is the way to go when you're working with a tight budget. But we'd be lying if we told you that buying pre-owned stuff doesn't come with a list of downsides. Just take a look at this seller who was caught in a blatant lie right on their own listing!
Saying the couch they were selling came from a no-pets home, they didn't realize their cat photobombed the picture. Safe to say, potential buyers were turned off by this accidental revelation. Cat fur shedding is a pain to remove from couches, so we won't blame people for passing up this purchase.
There Can Only Be One
Some people can be possessive of their name, as strange as that may sound. This person right here is part of that crowd clearly. Noticing that another social media user was using the same name as they were, they deemed it a must to message the user to get to the bottom of things.
But as you would have already guessed, there's nothing to it than just a mere coincidence. So, unless they have the name on their birth certificate legally changed to something more unique, they'd just have to deal with the fact that they are not one in a billion.
The Tale Of Two Exits
With their identical floor layouts, multistory car parks are an easy place to get lost in. It certainly doesn't help either if they have a couple of confusing signs like these ones posted around. Which way is the exit?
That's probably why drivers have plenty of stories about the times they spent walking around these parking spaces trying to look for their vehicle. However, the good news is that developers have made plenty of apps to solve this exact problem. Give The Parking Spot or ParkWhiz a go, and your life will change in an instant!
Sunroofs Are Just Not For Snowy Days
Sunroofs, that sliding glass cover on the ceiling of automobiles, are a feature people often look for when buying a vehicle. But as it turns out, it's not always a good thing to have. Just ask the owner of this snowed-in Honda, who accidentally left their sunroof open on a snowy day.
They realized their mistake too late and probably ended up spending hours cleaning their vehicle's interiors. Still, they're lucky the damage was repairable. According to the website It Still Runs, this is nothing a bunch of kitchen towels and a trusty dryer can't fix!
Sorry To Leo, Sam, Kim, And Ann
Going back to the topic of names, let's talk about the struggles of people who have three-letter ones. Poor Leo here felt rather unwelcome after facing a small hiccup while filling up an online sign-up form. No doubt Sam, Kim, and Ann would have felt the same, too!
On the bright side, Leo can easily resolve this issue by using the longer version of his name, Leonardo. As for the people who made this online form, they probably should reconsider the character number requirements they have in place if they want more traffic on their website.
Instant Burned Ramen
Instant ramen is probably one of the easiest things to cook. All you need to do to prepare a serving is add water to the instant noodles and then pop it in the microwave. No wonder it's a pantry staple in college dorms everywhere!
Still, some people get those simple instructions mixed up. In this case, someone clearly forgot to add water to the ramen before they placed it in the microwave, resulting in the noodles getting toasted beyond recognition. Burned ramen, that's got to be some kind of achievement, huh?
Now, Her Manicure Is To "Dye" For!
Now, we can't really blame this lady for not thinking things through first. By the looks of it, she wore a pair of gloves before she went about dyeing some pieces of clothing with this dark hue. It's just that the protective layer wasn't effective enough to keep her hands stain-free.
On the bright side, the black dye does look good with the rest of her nails. Now, she can definitely say that her manicure is to "dye" for! Besides, she need not worry because there are plenty of ways to wash off fabric dye—if you act quickly, that is.
The Best Things In Life…Cost £16.99
If there's a photo to accompany the word "irony" in the dictionary, this should be the one. Despite what this embossed card would like you to believe, the best things in life aren't free at all. In this case, it costs £16.99, which isn't exactly cheap for a piece of cardboard.
Interestingly, the popular proverb can be traced back to a song that's aptly titled "The Best Things in Life Are Free," which appeared in the 1927 musical "Good News." It talks about how bonding with another person romantically is one of the best things in life.
One Rebelled, The Rest Followed
At first glance, it may appear that this entire street of drivers in Romania has decided to rebel together against the parking guidelines painted by the side of the road. But as it turns out, those slanted white lines are actually hatched road markings and not designated parking spots.
For the unfamiliar, hatched road markings are used to separate streams of traffic for the safety of motorists. Still, these drivers should probably re-think their parking choices. While parking tickets don't affect how much a person pays for car insurance, unpaid ones may affect one's premium.
Does This Taste Better Than Black "Paper"?
Label makers are incredibly useful devices, especially if you have a collection of spices. Just make sure to proofread your labels before printing them out. Skip that step, and you could end up sprinkling white "paper" on your dish instead of white pepper!
Fortunately, white pepper has a milder flavor compared to its black counterpart. Mistakenly putting some on anything you're cooking won't alter the taste of the end product that much. What you need to be careful of, though, is confusing pepper with paprika as those are spices that have different taste profiles.
A Futile Way To Contain The Elements
Boy, did this truck driver underestimate the power of the elements! Thinking he could contain and transport earth on a flatbed truck, he learned the hard way how that would be utterly impossible. Yes, even with the help of a rubber cord tied to "secure" the cargo.
We could only imagine how this played out when he hit the road, and the gusts of wind blew everything away. That said, let this remind everyone to always do their research before starting any labor-intensive undertakings. That is unless you also want to waste your time and material resources!
Open 24/7…But Not Really
Talk about a blatant case of false advertising! Although it presents itself as a 24/7 establishment, this store's listed open hours prove that claim is quite misleading. They're only open for a mere six hours on Sundays!
The only way we could excuse this is if this business was a restaurant. Say what you will, but running a dining establishment nonstop is a tough job, especially with everything that can go wrong. In fact, the mere task of scheduling staff for three shifts seven days a week would be one big headache for any manager.
RIP To The Cinema-Going Experience
This might just be every movie fan's worst nightmare. Sure, adding a playground and more comfortable seats would benefit those who come in with their kids in tow. But the noise and distraction these additions would cause would turn off just about everybody else.
For the curious, this kid-friendly cinema experience was the idea of the movie theater chain Cinépolis USA. They came up with the concept with kids and pre-teen audiences in mind. The setup allows for kids to play before and after the full movie screening, with the option of keeping the house lights on all throughout the viewing.
People Count As Traffic, Too
Millions, if not billions, of people benefit from the widespread use of traffic lights on the roads. So, we're honestly puzzled who thought it would be a good use of public funds to put one along a dirt road. Guess they counted people as traffic, too?
There's also the possibility that this path sees a lot of motorcycle riders passing through. We reckon this traffic light, which costs around $80K to purchase and install, would also come in handy when this dirt road gets covered in snow during the winter, and the townspeople begin traveling via snowmobiles.
No Lock Can Save This Cyclist
Depending on the kind you buy, a good bike can go for hundreds, even thousands of dollars. So, cyclists often rely on locks and other anti-thievery gadgets to keep their two-wheeled rides safe. We have a feeling there's no kind of lock that can save this cyclist, though.
Chaining their bicycle to a straight post, they didn't realize how easy it would be for just about anyone to circumvent their lock. Here's to hoping the person who took this photo got to inform the cyclist before somebody could snatch it away and ride it off into the sunset.
"Amphibious" Means Both Hands, Right?
Reporting is a time-sensitive job, so newsrooms often run on hectic schedules. That means that sometimes writers and editors don't get enough time to proofread their work before it hits the printing press. That's how this rather hilarious headline about former MLB pitcher Pat Venditte made it onto the pages of the East Oregonian in 2015.
Having the ability to throw with both his left and right hands, Venditte is an ambidextrous pitcher (also called a switch-pitcher). However, the writer of the article mistakenly used the word "amphibious," which pertains to something that is suited for both land and water instead.
19 Going On 9
Traveling with a parent as an adult has its perks. For starters, you can rely on them to take care of all the planning—scoring the best hotel packages included! But we'd be lying if we told you everything would be smooth-sailing.
Take this hilarious scenario, for example. It seems like Catherine's mom was a bit absent-minded when she was booking their room and mistakenly told staff her daughter was a kid instead of a teen. That's how Catherine ended up sleeping in this "special bed" during their vacation. So much for a relaxing weekend with mom, huh?
Someone Needs To Go Back To School, Indeed
Going into the territory of funny spelling mistakes, take a look at this back-to-school Walgreens ad. As it appears, it's not only students who need to prepare to return to the classroom. The employee who misspelled "supplies" as "supplise" might want to consider doing so as well.
That said, we could still sympathize with their troubles. Marquees such as this one are often erected several feet off the ground. Climbing that while rearranging dozens of letters is no easy feat for sure! Add to that is the possibility that they did this toward the end of a long shift, and you've got a recipe for disaster.
They Really Hate Onions
When people go to a restaurant, they expect to get good food and decent service. So, we really can't blame this disappointed diner for leaving a passive-aggressive note on their plate. It seems like the server forgot to relay the diner's no onion request to the chef.
And before you judge the diner for being a bit petty, you should know that a lot of people do not like onions, and eliminating them from dishes is not at all a rare request. According to The Huffington Post, it's the ingredient's raw version that people seem to hate the most. The putrid smell it leaves in one's breath doesn't help either!
Straight From A Kid's Peppa Pig(gy) Bank
The cartoon character Peppa Pig is no doubt famous among children all over the world. Still, we doubt she's influential enough to make her own currency valid for purchase. We could see a stressed-out parent accidentally using their kid's toy money to pay for something at the store, though.
What we still can't wrap our heads around, however, is how the employee who accepted this also thought it was a real banknote. Queen Elizabeth II, whose portrait appears on British paper currency, looks nothing like Peppa Pig if you ask us! Maybe this will teach them to be more careful next time.
Patience Is A Virtue
Receiving Christmas gifts, or any gift for that matter is always thrilling. So, we really can't blame this excited person for wanting to open this present right away. Unfortunately, that also meant that they unintentionally destroyed its contents, which happens to be a significant amount of cash. If only they were a little more patient!
For the curious, this red envelope appears to be a "hongbao" or "ang pow," which is a gift of bills given during holidays and birthdays in Chinese culture. According to the website China Highlights, the red color of the envelope signifies happiness and good luck.
A Different Kind Of Salad Greens
Salads are probably among the healthiest foods you can have for a meal. They're not always the safest best though, as Reddit user DirgeofElliot found out when he started digging into this salad he ordered at a restaurant. If you look closely, there appears to be a praying mantis hiding in his food!
We have a feeling the poor insect was accidentally harvested with the lettuce and unwittingly bagged by an employee. Fortunately, DirgeofElliot inspected his salad before eating the mantis. We reckon the insect didn't taste great even when drenched in a ton of dressing.
Writing On The Go
The great thing about pencils is that they make for instant hair sticks if you're out of bands or clips. Pens though? Well, not so much as you can probably tell from this photo of a woman with a somewhat inky back problem.
With her pen's cap gone, she didn't realize that she had been "writing" on her nape while on the train. The good news, though, is that there are plenty of ways to get the abstract artwork of pen strokes on her skin. We heard that nail polish remover or regular rubbing alcohol would get the job done just fine.
Reading Comprehension Is Not Their Strongest Suit
Well, it looks like this Facebook user needs to brush up on their reading comprehension. Perhaps excited to field their puppy name suggestions, they didn't realize that their friend had already stated that they had gotten a male pet. Oh well, at least they were willing to help!
It's interesting to note, though, that some experts say that it doesn't matter what name a person ends up calling their dog. According to Columbia University professor and canine researcher Alexandra Horowitz, what's important is how the name is said. For what it's worth, though, Bailey, Max, and Charlie emerged as the top picks for dog owners in 2021!
Just In Case Someone Claims False Advertising
We're pretty sure people didn't really think that this company was selling giant hotdogs based on this ad. But it seems like they were just trying to cover all of their bases in case someone decides to sue them for false advertising. Paying a hefty lawsuit settlement probably wasn't part of their marketing plans!
And can you blame them? Regardless of which states they operate in, they can get in legal trouble because of the federal Lanham Act. The law covers any kind of misrepresentation of a product's qualities and other deceptive advertising practices.
No More Oreos In The Library
Most libraries have a policy against drinking and eating in their reading areas to protect books, but this library seems to have a rather specific vendetta against Oreos. They even made a sign, which went viral on Twitter in 2017, declaring a ban on the popular cookie snacks.
That said, we can't help but wonder what "recent events" happened to warrant this drastic measure. Well, one netizen explained that the poster was in response to a 2013 Oreo advert that aired during the Super Bowl. The commercial showed a catastrophic fight among library patrons that ended in the place being completely trashed.
When Is July 4th Again?
This is a Facebook status that wouldn't exist if this confused user thought about their question before posting it. When is July 4, aka Independence Day? Well, it says it right there on the date! This netizen probably thought that the occasion is celebrated on a different day each year, we guess.
Interestingly, his confusion is kind of justified when you look at the history of the United States' independence. According to Britannica, Congress actually voted to officially separate from Great Britain on July 2, 1776, but only passed the declaration two days later on July 4.
Toilet Diving Is A Dangerous Sport
Here's another intriguing sign we'd love to know the backstory of! Did someone really try diving into this toilet or was this just a strangely specific precautionary measure? If the former is true, then what possessed them to do so? Guess, our questions would have to go unanswered for now.
We understand why the people who manage this public bathroom were wary of would-be divers though. Shallow diving, though a real sport, is a dangerous one. So, you can imagine how catastrophic it would be if a person actually dove headfirst into this toilet's shallow waters.
The Math Doesn't Add Up
You'd think that the fact that pregnancies last nine months is common knowledge by now. This confused netizen proves that isn't the case as they wonder whether twins also take twice as long to develop. Two babies x nine months = 18-month pregnancies, right?
Well, not really. If anything, it's been observed that carrying multiples—be it twins or triplets—makes labor come earlier for expectant mothers. Twins tend to be born a month earlier than normal, in fact, according to the experts at Verywell Family. That's because of the different set of complications that comes with carrying multiple babies.
Missouri Loves Company
The great thing about Twitter is that you can vent just about anything. This user who goes by the handle CrazysBigSister was probably doing just that when she tweeted the popular saying, "Misery loves company." It's just that she misspelled the quote, referring to the state of Missouri instead.
In her defense, though, it's also possible that she was just talking about another thing altogether. Ringo Starr does have a song called "Missouri Loves Company," and we heard there's a book by the author W.J. Costello of the same title, too.
