Mary Pickford & Douglas Fairbanks - 1920

Mary Pickford, whose real name is Gladys Louise Smith, had a Hollywood career that lasted for about five decades. Actor Douglas Fairbanks is the man she got married back in 1920, and the photo above shows you how radiant she looked during their big day.

Prince Edward is the British Royal who chose love over his title. He ruled as king for almost a year, and his abdication happened because he wasn't allowed to marry divorcee, Wallis Simpson. Even after the whole scandal, nothing could stop him from settling down with the love of his life.

The couple tied the knot in June 1937, and as you can see above, the clothes they wore were simple yet elegant. The two remained married to each other until Prince Edward died in 1972. Simpson didn't remarry, and she eventually passed away in 1986.

Nat King Cole & Maria Hawkins Ellington - 1948

Nat King Cole was a talented singer whose name was often on pop charts. The love of his life was Maria Hawkins Ellington, who was also a singer. They got married in 1948, less than a week after he officially got divorced from his first wife!

Ava Gardner & Frank Sinatra - 1951

Many altercations they had were public, and this is why they were the talk of the town. They went their separate ways after two years of marriage, but they only got to finalize their divorce in 1957. There was no bad blood between them, and they maintained their friendship. Gardner died in 1990, while Sinatra passed away in 1998.

Elizabeth Taylor & Michael Wilding - 1952

Another man actress Elizabeth Taylor got married to was Michael Wilding. He was her second husband, and they were together for about five years. He was two decades older than her, but it wasn't a problem. She loved the security and calmness of their union.

The couple had a private ceremony in 1952, and they both looked dapper. Taylor's outfit matched with her accessories and hairstyle and she looked breathtaking. After they got divorced, Wilding got married two more times. His next marriage also didn't last, and his marriage after that ended with his wife's unfortunate death.

Flower crowns are something you see at Coachella, but it looks like such a crown was a perfect accessory to a significant event during the mid-'50s. Hepburn's marriage to Ferrer ended after fourteen years. At the time of her death in 1993, her partner was actor Robert Wolders.

Grace Kelly & Prince Rainier of Monaco - 1956

Grace Kelly first gained fame as an actress, but she later left the acting industry to get married to Prince Rainier III of Monaco. It wasn't hard for people to start seeing her as royalty since she's a gorgeous woman. When she got married in 1956, Helen Rose, who's a costume designer, made her gown.

The lace and silk taffeta accents of the gown made it such an iconic ensemble. Reports say a total of three dozen dressmakers worked on the outfit. Kelly had an unexpected death in 1982 that was caused by injuries from a vehicle crash. Prince Rainier didn't want to remarry after she passed away.

Debbie Reynolds & Eddie Fisher - 1956

Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher looked like the perfect couple when they said their I Dos in 1956. How they smiled looked genuine, and their body chemistry shows you how they loved being together. At that time, everyone probably thought they would be growing old together.

Unfortunately, their marriage got ruined because of Fisher's infidelity. He reportedly cheated on her with Elizabeth Taylor. It caused a feud that lasted for years, but she eventually forgave him. Reynolds later had two more failed marriages. In 2016, she passed away a day after her daughter Carrie Fisher died. 

Robert Wagner & Natalie Wood - 1957

Robert Wagner and Natalie Wood were another couple from back then who didn't care about the age gap. When they tied the knot back in 1957, she was only nineteen years old while he was twenty-seven. They both had youthful faces, so you really wouldn't suspect any age gap.

They ended their marriage in 1962, but they later reconnected a decade later. Wood and Wagner got married again and remained married until she died in 1981. Her cause of death was a mysterious drowning accident. He became a person of interest in the investigation in 2018, but he says he had nothing to do with it.

Sammy Davis Jr. & May Britt - 1960

Sammy Davis Jr. was an actor and singer who was talented in making impersonations of different celebrities. He had such a great sense of humor, and it helped him win women over. The gorgeous May Britt was his wife from 1960 until 1968.

Her dress during their special day wasn't extremely extravagant, but it still made her look delightful. David Jr, on the other hand, seemed quite trendy with his haircut and eyeglasses. In 1970, he got married for the third time. It was to Altovise Davis, and they stayed married until he passed away in 1990.

Elizabeth Taylor started working in show business as a child, so it's no surprise that she married men who were actors as well. Richard Burton, her fifth husband, won her over when they met on the set of the film called Cleopatra. 

A love affair between them quickly started, but it was scandalous because they were both married to different people. They later left their partners and married each other in 1964. They both looked terrific during their big day, and she didn't look like a typical 21-year-old. Sadly, their age difference became an issue, and it later led to their separation. Farrow then had a high profile relationship with Woody Allen. When they broke up, she accused him of indecently assaulting their adopted daughter.

George Harrison & Patti Boyd - 1966

A lot of women want to wear luxurious gowns on their big day, but then there are also women like Patty Boyd, who doesn't mind breaking traditions. When she got married to Beatles member George Harrison in 1966, she wore a stylish suit. 

They were such a stylish couple, and their good looks were the cherry on top. Unfortunately, their marriage didn't last due to adultery. Harrison passed away in 2001, while Boyd is still alive and well at 76 years old. She's happily married to a man named Rod Weston.

Angela King & Eric Burdon - 1967

Another duo who wore unconventional outfits during their big day was singer Eric Burdon and Angela King. They were a "hippie" couple, and it looks like they didn't want to say their I Do's wearing a traditional gown and tuxedo. Sadly, their marriage only lasted for a year.

She quickly began dating Jimi Hendrix after ending things. King got murdered in 1996, and the murderer was one of her other ex-boyfriends. Burdon is not active in the music industry anymore, but he did perform with The Animals at the Lynn Memorial Auditorium back in 2018.

Famous singer Liza Minnelli is a renowned queer icon, and true fans would know that she once got married to a gay man! It was her first husband, Peter Allen, but she thought he was straight. If you check out their wedding photos, you won't suspect anything.

She later discovered the truth when she caught him with a man at their home. It's safe to say her life is really like a movie. Minnelli got married three more times, but none of the marriages lasted. As far as we know, she isn't tied down to any man today.

Priscilla Beaulieu & Elvis Presley - 1967

The couple's marriage was far from perfect, and the problems kept piling up for them as time passed. They later got divorced in 1973. Elvis passed away at 42 years of age in 1977. In recent years, rumors stated that Priscilla is now dating Sir Tom Jones, but she later confirmed that they're just friends.

Audrey Hepburn & Andrea Dotti - 1969

Audrey Hepburn already experienced wearing a lavish gown when she got married to her first husband, so when it came to her second marriage to Andrea Dotti, she decided to switch things up. Everything about her bold and interesting outfit that day just showed how fearless she was style-wise.

Hepburn and Dotti might have looked like they were madly in love with each other, but they both cheated on each other. They were officially divorced by 1982. During the years leading up to her death, Hepburn was an active UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, and her efforts won her the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Cilla Black & Bobby Willis - 1969

It's common knowledge that most women wear white during their big day, but Cilla Black is not like most women. When she and Bobby Willis tied the knot back in 1969, she wore a red outfit that was made by fashion designer, John Bates. It perfectly matched her red hair color.

She got everything she wanted that day and didn't regret anything. The couple remained happily married for many years, but unfortunately, Willis passed away in 1969. Black stayed a widow up until she died in 2015. She was  72 years old at the time of her death.

John Lennon & Yoko Ono - 1969

John Lennon and Yoko Ono were among the most fashionable couples ever. They were simply iconic, so it's not a surprise that they didn't go for anything conventional when they got married in 1969. After they became husband and wife, they spent their honeymoon doing their Bed-Ins for Peace protest.

The couple's marriage stayed strong until Lennon's passing in 1980. Ono never remarried, and she continues to be busy with her philanthropic activities. She also does a lot of social activism. In 2019, Ono was the brains behind the Refugee Boat installation at the River to River Festival.

Lulu & Maurice Gibb - 1969

Back in 1969, singer Lulu got married to Bee Gees member Maurice Gibb. They were both famous pop stars, so it's not a surprise that their clothes during their big day were oozing with style. As you can see above, their outfits were perfect for a magazine spread.

Their careers later made them grow apart, and Gibb's drinking problems made things worse. They decided to end their marriage in 1973 but had no bad blood with each other whatsoever. Lulu isn't retired yet, and she performed during the Miss World pageant in 2019.

Edy Williams & Russ Meyer - 1970

Edy Williams is a gorgeous actress who got to appear in a lot of the director, Russ Meyer's films. She wasn't just any other actress of his, for she was also his wife. They got married in 1970, and she looked incredible in the lace wedding dress she wore on their special day.

Their marriage didn't last, and they parted ways by the mid-'70s. Williams continued acting until the early '90s, and it looks like she doesn't plan to continue doing acting work now that she's 77 years old. Her last on-screen appearance was in the Beyond the Valley of the Dolls: Cast and Crew Q&A documentary in 2016.

Mick Jagger & Bianca Pérez-Mora Macias - 1971

Rolling Stones' frontman, Mick Jagger, is everything you'd expect a rock star to be; and he undoubtedly would look fantastic from head to toe when he gets married. Photographed above is how he looked like during his wedding to Pérez-Mora Macías back in 1971.

Faye Dunaway & Peter Wolf - 1974

Collins never shared many details about her husband, but we do know her last name later became Furst. Collins won many medals for the United States, and she held records in the 200m butterfly and 4×100m medley.

Nerys Hughes & Patrick Turley - 1972

Gorgeous actress Vanessa Williams has been happily married to Jim Skrip since 2015, but she's had her fair share of failed relationships in the past. The guy you see above is her first husband, Ramon Hervey II, and the two undeniable looked dashing during their big day in 1987.

She was a stunner in her white gown while he pulled off his classic tuxedo. You might notice that she looks young here, and that's because she was only 24 years old at that time. Their marriage lasted for about a decade. Williams' IMDb page says she has an upcoming TV movie called Happy Accident.

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson's names have been on numerous headlines in 2020 because of their battle with contracting COVID-19. Despite facing such a severe condition, the couple showed everyone that they would be there for each other through sickness and health.

They both looked like the perfect bride and groom, and this photo above looks like it would be ideal for putting on top of a cake. In 2012, their marriage ended, and rumors say it was because of Cruise's Scientology involvement. Cruise appears to be single today, while Holmes ended her relationship with Jamie Foxx in 2019.

Raquel Welch & Patrick Curtis - 1967

Raquel Welch was truly iconic at the time she became Patrick Curtis' wife, for she wore a short crochet-style dress during their civil ceremony in France back in 1967. Her outfit showed some skin, but she kept a coat to cover up if necessary.

Welch spent a couple of years in a happy marriage with Curtis, but they decided to go their separate ways in 1972. She later got married two more times, but both didn't end well. After the end of her fourth marriage, she mentioned how she doesn't plan to get married ever again.

Catherine Deneuve & David Bailey - 1965

Catherine Deneuve dated several men in the past, but only one man got her to say, "I do." She got married to David Bailey, a photographer, back in 1965. At that time, she was only 21 years old. They didn't have a lavish ceremony, for they got married in London's St. Pancras Registry Office.

Brigitte Bardot was a famous blonde bombshell in Hollywood during the '50s and '60s. Currently, she and her husband, Bernard d'Ormale, have been happily married since 1992, but they never had a baby together. She only ever had one child, and that was with her second husband, Jacques Charrier.

In this photo taken on the big day in 1959, Bardot and Charrier were already expecting a child together. They stayed married until 1962. Bardot has stepped away from the acting industry since the mid-'70s. In recent years, she has been busy with her animal rights activism.

Ingrid Bergman & Petter Aron Lindström - 1937

Their marriage had a good start, but her constant infidelity tore them apart. Bergman later had marriages with Roberto Rossellini and Lars Schmidt, but both didn't work out. She died at the age of 67 in 1982. Her last ex-husband, Schmidt, kept her company during her final days.

Marilyn Monroe & James Dougherty - 1942

Some of you might've not known this, Marilyn Monroe was only sixteen years old when she got married for the first time in 1942. Her husband was her neighbor, James Dougherty. It wasn't a cute love story, for she only married him to escape from having to go back to her former orphanage.

Despite the circumstances, she still dressed up well during their big day. Her beautiful wedding gown looked incredible, and it matched Dougherty's white tuxedo. Monroe got bored from being a housewife, so she later ended their marriage and became a famous Hollywood star. In 1962, she died due to a Barbiturate overdose.

Rita Hayworth & Orson Welles - 1943

Getting married in a civil ceremony is something that has been around for decades, and it's the fastest way to tie the knot. Rita Hayworth and Orson Welles said "I Do" before a judge back in 1942, and they did it stylishly.

He had a sleek striped suit, while she looked fabulous in a beige suit. Their ceremony was brief, and they went back to work afterward! Even though Hayworth loved him so much, they had a lot of differences. They eventually agreed to end their union in 1947. She later had three more marriages, but all ended with a visit to a divorce law firm.

Humphrey Bogart & Lauren Bacall - 1945

Since 1945, Humphrey Bogart only had eyes for one woman, and that was actress Lauren Bacall. They tied the knot in a simple ceremony in May 1945. He had just finalized his divorce papers from his previous wife less than two weeks before that day!

When a couple gets married, it's a given that there will be alcohol at the ceremony. When Bette Davis got married to William Grant Sherry in 1945, they were in the mood to do something cute. They drank their drinks with their arms wrapped around each other.

It's something many couples do today, but it's fascinating to know that people were already doing it at that time. Unfortunately, Davis decided to end her marriage with Sherry in 1950. She later went on to have a ten-year union with Gary Merrill, but she died in 1989 with no husband by her side.

Judy Garland & Vincent Minnelli - 1945

Judy Garland spent many years working as an actress, and there was a time in her life when she fell in love with a director. It was Meet Me in St. Louis director Vincent Minnelli, and they tied the knot just days after she turned 23 in 1945.

Garland had an impeccable style, so it was only right that she got married in a gorgeous outfit. The couple later became parents to a talented daughter, Liza Minnelli, but their marriage ended in 1951. When she died in 1969, she was married to Mickey Deans.

Shirley Temple & John Agar - 1945

Shirley Temple is yet another popular actress who experienced getting married at a young age. She was seventeen years old when she and John Agar became husband and wife in 1945. He was a sergeant of the United States Army Air Corps.

The above isn't enough to give justice on how stunning she looked on their special day. She had a beautiful gown, and her hairdo and makeup were all on-point. Temple and Agar split up in 1950, and she later married Charles Alden Black. They stayed married until Black died in 2005. She didn't remarry, and then passed away in 2014.

Angela Lansbury & Peter Shaw - 1949

Angela Lansbury isn't like other women on this list because she can confidently say that she had a "perfect relationship." She's referring to her union with Peter Shaw, and they were married for more than five decades! Photographed above is the couple when they got married in 1949.

The late Joan Crawford was married to three actors, and none of those marriages lasted. Her fourth marriage finally worked out well, and it looks like the guy not being an actor might've been a contributing factor. Her husband, Alfred Steele, was the Pepsi-Cola CEO at one point.

Fonda later got lucky and remained married to his fifth wife, Shirlee Mae Adams, until he passed away.

Paul Newman was the type of celebrity who will make your heart stop because of how good looking he was. He surely didn't have a hard time with the ladies, but he stayed loyal to one woman for decades. His wife was the beautiful Joanne Woodward.

She is half Indian, and the wedding gown she wore on their special day in 1957 looked like it was Indian-inspired. The couple had a son together named Christian. Their marriage lasted for about two years. Brando wasn't married when he died in 2004, while Anna Kashfi passed away in 2015 as a widow.
