When you adopt a pet, it doesn’t take much time for the animal to become a part of your family. So when the time comes for your furry friend to bid adieu, things can seem quite gloomy. But life goes on and the best way to say goodbye is to mourn our dear companions in the sweetest way possible.
Hollywood celebrities are not exempt from the sadness that comes with losing pets. In fact, quite recently, a number of celebs have lost their little friends, and subsequently, have expressed their feelings on social media. Jessica Simpson, Daisy Mae
Sometimes, we fail to care about what's right in front of us and it is when they're gone that we understand how valuable they were to us. Similarly, many people don’t bother with their pets while they are alive, but after losing them, the hurt they feel is indescribable.
Jessica Simpson, however, loved her dog dearly. In September of 2009, her dog, Daisy Mae, was killed by a coyote. On the first death anniversary of her dog, she posted a long Twitter message sharing memories of Daisy and also declared that she was the best pet of her life.
Kelly Osbourne, Woody
Kelly Osbourne’s dog was born with an untreatable brain condition that Kelly came to know after his death. In 2010, Kelly lost her best friend, Woody. Woody was a cute Pomeranian puppy and meant the world to Kelly. His death upset her to such an extent that she expressed her feelings on social media.
She wrote that the day he passed was one of the most unfortunate days of her life. She shockingly revealed that she came home and found Woody dead. She didn’t believe for some time that Woody had left her, but later, she had to accept the tragic reality.
Jonathan Van Ness, Bug
Famous television personality, Jonathan Van Ness, also suffered deeply when his dearest pet died. Jonathan had a stunning black furry cat named Bug, which he received through adoption. Jonathan shared on social media that one day he was too tired and went to sleep. When he woke up he didn’t find his cat near him.
After searching for some time, Jonathan found Bug dead, lying in the street. Reportedly, his cat had fallen from a window in the house and died. Jonathan always advises others to take good care of their pets and also to donate to animal shelters.
Sophie Turner, Waldo
Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas’s honeymoon ended with some sad news. A few days after they returned, their Alaskan Klee Kai dog passed away. According to the couple’s dog walker, he was hit by a fast-moving car and died on the spot. The celebrations of their marriage shortly turned into grief for their pet.
Waldo was Sophie’s favorite pet. Jonas and Turner adopted Waldo in 2018 and he was the younger brother of their second dog, Porky Basquiat. On the day that Waldo died, Porky was also with him. The couple got matching tattoos of Waldo to honor him.
Demi Lovato, Buddy
For some people, it is really hard to forget the memories of their beloved pets. Demi Lovato is one of them. Demi, known for her stunning voice and acting skills, lost her pet, Buddy, in 2015. At first, it was hard for her to live without her dog, but she has accepted the sad reality.
Not only that, but Demi has commemorated her friend’s life in the sweetest way. On January 30, 2019, she got a tattoo on her ankle, which is a reminder of her fluffy dog. A famous tattoo artist named Brian Woo, also known as Dr. Woo, did the artwork for her.
Pink, Frangelica
Pink was the owner of a dog named Frangelica for 16 years. The dog had grown very old but Pink still loved taking care of her. However, when Pink returned home after the Beautiful Trauma World Tour, her sweetheart left the world.
Pink chose to share the news on the social media platform, Instagram. She thanked her dog for having waited for her to come home from her tour. Along with the tribute, Pink uploaded a photo on Instagram, in which she was kissing Frangelica’s snout. It's clear that Pink had a close relationship with her dear pet.
Eva Longoria, Jinxy
The actress, Eva Longoria, had to bid farewell to her 15-year-old dog, Jinxy. The Maltese had been very close to her and she had a tough time parting with him. She was so dedicated to her dog that she stood by his side when he passed away while at the vet.
On Instagram, Eva shared that the day she had dreaded the most had happened the previous night when Jinxy experienced a stroke from which he could not recover. Jinxy was often seen in pictures right next to Eva and he also made an appearance on a magazine cover, right by her side.
Ian Somerhalder, Ira
The Vampire Diaries actor, Ian Somerhalder, had to bid goodbye to one of his many furbabies, Ira. In June 2018, the German shepherd died after an unceasing battle with cancer. Ian had announced his dog's death via a tribute in a post he made on Instagram.
After her death, Ian said that he was very thankful to her for the joy she had brought in his life and that he had never seen a more incredible animal; an animal with a soul that spoke 1000 languages. He also added that everyone who had ever met Ira misses her a lot.
Miley Cyrus, Floyd
Miley Cyrus had adopted an Alaskan Klee Kai named Floyd, in 2011. She was very attached to this dog and Floyd had been her favorite. Miley made a post announcing the death of her favorite canine stating that he should’ve taken her with him and that his loss was unbearable to her.
She reported that the cause of Floyd’s death was a coyote attack. To honor her pets, Miley decided to give each of them a particular spot on her body; a permanent tribute. For Floyd she got a tattoo on her left underarm; the tattoo said: “with a little help from my fwends”.
Gus Kenworthy, Beemo
The Olympic skier, Gus Kenworthy, has a habit of rescuing dogs wherever he goes. During the 2018 winter games in Pyeongchang, Gus rescued Beemo from a meat farm. Gus drew attention to the way the dogs were treated; they were kept either in makeshift wooden boxes or cages where they were exposed to harsh elements.
He also said that most of these animals had been pets previously and were either stolen or found and sold to the meat houses. Beemo passed away due to a fatal birth defect that Gus was unaware of. He gave a eulogy on social media expressing his sorrow for his lost pet.
Zac Efron, Puppy Efron
Zac Efron received his big break after starring in the film trilogy High School Musical, where he also met Vanessa Hudgens, his former girlfriend. In 2010, Zac started his own production company called Ninjas Runnin' Wild under Warner Bros. He currently has a net worth of $24 million.
After the death of his pet dog, Zac had uploaded a photo of his furry best friend alongside him with the lyrics that Chance the Rapper had written in honor of him. Zac's last words were filled with sadness but also gratitude, as he shared how much he loved the dog that he had named Puppy Efron.
Chrissy Teigen, Puddy
Chrissy Teigen and her husband, John Legend, lost their bulldog in March of 2018. In her post, Teigen wrote that their baby, Puddy, had gone to pup heaven. She also stated that she had convinced John to give half-birthday presents and welcomed Puddy into their lives, during their first year together.
She shared that Puddy had been with them for a long time; he had stuck by them through thick and thin. He was there with the couple when they got their new house, when they relocated to a new city, and also when their tour began.
Khloé Kardashian, Gabbana
In January of 2018, the then-pregnant media personality, Khloé Kardashian’s Labrador, Gabbana, passed away. Khloé made a post to pay tribute to her precious pet. In her post, she said she had lost Gabbana the previous night. She referred to Gabbana as her first child, stating that she was more than a pet to her.
Khloé also said that Gabbana had been such an incredible help and that she always stuck by her, even when she had been extremely lonely. Khloé thanked Gabbana for having played such a significant role in her life for the past 14 years.
Tom Hardy, Woody
Tom Hardy paid a warm tribute to his pooch when it passed away due to “an aggressive Polymyositis” at the age of six. Tom shared an impressive list of Woody’s distinctions, which included being ranked as one of the most influential animals by TIME magazine and playing a role in Peaky Blinders.
After that, Tom became emotional and talked about how Woody had been his best friend and how his death had left him devastated. Tom also added that he was very grateful to have had such a great companion by his side and that the world was a better place when Woody was alive.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Bisou
Jeffrey Dean Morgan rescued a dog on the Venice Beach Boardwalk many years ago. He had noticed some kids selling puppies and he selected one pup which had been four inches long. Jeffrey picked that dog because he thought that it would not make it through till the next day if it wasn’t helped.
The dog, who Jeffrey later named Bisou, was now always right by his side. This companionship lasted for over 12 wonderful years. Two days after Bisou passed away, Jeffrey got a tattoo of her name made on his forearm as a tribute.
Hilary Duff, Beau
The former child-star, Hilary Duff, has also lost one of her precious friends. Hilary had a French Bulldog named Beau. Both were living together for almost two years but in January of 2016, Hilary said goodbye to her beloved pet. She used to upload her pet’s pictures every day, but on that day she didn’t upload a single photo.
Instead, she made a sad post in which she declared that Beau had passed away. She said she wasn’t able to look at his pictures because they made her eyes tear up. However, later that day, she uploaded a lot of photos of Beau on Instagram.
P. Diddy, HoneyCombs
This sad list also features P. Diddy who lost his beautiful pet, HoneyCombs. HoneyCombs was just like a young child in Diddy's eyes. Unfortunately, in April of 2014, P. Diddy lost his golden-haired friend, making it one of the saddest days of his life. Many people consoled him as he dealt with HoneyComb's death.
P. Diddy posted a sorrowful message on his social media account, in which he described how heartbroken he was to lose such an important member of his family. It was very hard for him to accept reality, but later, he said he was thankful for the times they shared and moved on with his life.

Kelly Clarkson is a television personality, author, singer, and actress. She will always remember the day she lost her pooch, Joplin. That beautiful and cute black labradoodle was Kelly’s life. In November of 2013, Joplin passed away. Joplin was adopted 2 years before passing on.
It was really difficult for Kelly to forget the moments she spent with Joplin, who died after struggling with health issues. To express her feelings, Kelly chose the social media platform, Twitter. She tweeted about the death of her dog and the love she still has for her best friend.
